Dear DIEry;
Here is a poem I wrote for a friend of mines who is by most accounts a shut-in. Not by choice, but by circumstances. At age 94 she is healthy, coherent, and can run circle around this 45 year old guy...
In a hustled and hurried world we do so much to separate the one from the many. We go to see a personal trainer to get fit, a private masseuse to relax and get reenergized, use a PDA (personal data assistant) to keep organized and even have a PA (personal assistant) to manage our work. But in all this separation the only one we separate is ourselves for our own personal needs and wants.
We donate our time to volunteer groups, Donate our money to organizations with good causes, We support our troops by waving our flags and support our government by paying taxes..
But what of the one? That could be your neighbor. What of the one? Who could be your son. And what of the one? Who were the yesterday heroes. What of the one who could be undone.
Today is for a change, Tomorrow for results, and Yesterday for Regrets? for failure brings knowledge, imagination and risk the future, but regrets comes only from the never having trieds.
In helping the many, please don’t forget, it all starts with One.
dedicated to Lillian...
